QUEEN CARNIVAL.
PONSGNBY BODIES COMBINE. OPENING THIS EVENING. A combined queen carnival in aid of the Ponsonby Boys' Band, the Ponsonby Swimming Club and the Ponsonby Rugby League Football Club will open to-night with a parade of the three queens, Miss Mona Leydon, Miss Dorothy Lynue and Miss Irene Robertson. The processiou will start from the Heine Bay terminus at 7.15 p.m., and will proceed to Richmond Road and the Three Lamps. The carnival is to continue until Easter, with a local shopping week from April 3 to April 9, and a combined carnival at Poin,t Erin Park toward the end of the contest, when two bands will be in attendance and nigger minstrels and Highland dancers will entertain the crowd.
