CAR MISHAPS.
ROTORUA ACCIDENTS. WOMAN DRIVER INJURED. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Passengers in a five-seater sedan car had a remarkable escape from death yesterday morning when, as the result of a collision with a heavily-laden pumice truck near Tikitere, the car was> damaged almost beyond repair. Driven by Mr. S. Shalfoon, jun., of Opotiki, accompanied by Mrs. Shalfoon, the car was negotiating a corner near Tikitere when it collided with a truck driven by Mr. VV. J. Costello, who is employed carting pumice for the Public Works Department. One side of the car was completely torn from the chassis and carried backwards in a tangled mass. Neither the driver nor Mrs. Shalfoon was injured, apart from abrasions.
As the result of an elTort to avoid striking a cyclist who suddenly appeared in front of her car, Miss Ruddick, of Auckland, received severe cuts and abrasions yesterday afternoon when the car collided with a tree in Fenton Street. The car was considerably damaged and Miss Ruddiek's injuries necessitated medical attention. TJer father, who was a passenger, escaped unhurt.
