PRACTICAL JOKE.
BOY'S CLOTHES ON ROCKS.I SEARCH BY POLICE. All the elements of a drowning fatality were attached to the discovery late yesterday afternoon of a quantity of boys' clothing and a towel above high water mark on rocks on the foreshore of Tamaki Drive, opposite the "Parnell baths. The finding of a pair of blue serge trousers, a blue shirt, boy scout belt with badges attached, a towel, and a sclioolbag floating in the sea nearby, was reported to the police. After much trouble and inquiries by the police which did not conclude until 3 o'clock this morning, the owner of the clothes was found safe arid sound in bed. It was further discovered that while the boy was enjoying a swim in Parnell baths yesterday afternoon, other boys had removed his clothing for a joke and thrown it over a wall. The boy, finding his garments gone, walked home in his bathing costume. Although no boy was reported as missing last evening, the police took the j caution of obtaining a dinghy to ea.ry out dragging operations in the vicinity. In the list of passes for the Auckland Province of the University entrance examinations held in December last and published on Saturday, the names of Kathleen Gamble and K. Ewington, both of Takapuna Gramwiar School, should have bee:# included.
