A large field faced the starter for the ; Trial Stakes, and backers' sent Torch cut favourite, with Biacquedoon and High Quality next in request; Biacquedoon "was first to break the line, but Torch soon ran through to the front, and led along the back from Diacquedoon, Nicodemus and Orefield.
