The markets were very active for a Saturday morning, banks, mining and ! breweries sharing in a large turnover, i The Commercial Bank of Australia recovered the ground lost recently and after selling at 19/ further buyers offered a pennv more; sellers 19/3. Commercial Bank of Sydney were in demand at the new high rate of £19 7/6, but holders were disinclined to do business. Nationals of Australasia (£5 paid) were also stronger and Bank of New South Wales improved substantially—buyers £34 2/6, sellers £34 15/. Insurances were again neglected, but Nationals were fractionally firmer, with buyers at 18/3. There was a substantial drop in the price of Consolidated Brick at 10/5. Hiyne Pipe held'their advance at 16/6. Wilsons Cement were stronger than ever, buyers at 45/6 getting no response.
