Mataki.—Under date the 21st Inst, the dredgemaster reports as follows: For the week ended January 10 the dredge worked, 113 hours 55 minutes on a face of 530 ft, pulling ahead 30ft in an average depth of lift, the gold return being 420z lOdwt. Owing to the shallow nature of the ground and a low river it was necessary to lift 3ft of pug bottom over 300 ft of tho face, which accounts for the decrease in yardage and lost time. All machinery is working well. Bundi (West Coast). —For the period ended January 15 the dredge operated 255 hours, treating 55.000 yards for a recovery of lOOoz. A pumping station has been Installed and a new river pipe line will be completed next Thursday, when it is anticipated that the water shortage will be eliminated. During the period the dredge lost a , day and a half through shortage of water. Blaekwater (Reefton). —The report for the quarter ended December 31: Crushed i 11,592 tons, yielding 4828 fine ounces of gold, from all sources, the value of which, taking gold at current monthly value, was £34,034. .
