FROCKS AT THE RACES.

ATTRACTIVE ENSEMBLES. A DAY OB" SUNSHINE. The flawless morning attracted a large number of racing enthusiasts to Ellerslie to-day, when the .Takapuna Jockey Club held the first day of their summer meeting. The frocking was most attractive. The lawns were paraded by , numerous summer models, and the scene presented was one of colour and beauty. There was a fair percentage of floral patterned gowns, their lightness and airiness striking a distinctive note of grace, but the plainer materials, supplemented by contrasting colours, were really the favourite choice. The combine of white, grey or rose with navy blue looked exceedingly smart. Tailored silk suits also held their own. Manv of the hats were large-brimmed, while the piquant halo gave an air to a.suitable ensemble. Basket shoes were popular, as were sandal styles in colours which matched exactly the frocks of the wearers..
