AIR FORCE SECRETS.
SPIES PUT TO FLIGHT.
ATTEMPT AT FRENCH 'DROME. LYONS, France, December 18. Four men, believed by authorities to be members of a band of international spies, attempted early to-day to break into a safe containing mobilisation plans for the French air force. Frightened away by a soldier, the intruders fled from the military air, headquarters at Bron Aerodrome, near here, which is only a few hours by motor from the Swiss frontier. Hotes had been drilled in a steel door of the safe when a guard, hearing a noise, investigated. He fired three allots as the men disappeared into the darkness, leaving their burglar tools behind. There were three men in the building, with a fourth apparently waiting at the wheel of an automobile. The plans which they seemingly sought were for the defence of the Lyons industrial area, embracing some lof the most important factories in | France.
