THE FOURTH RACE, AUCKLAXD'S FIRST WIN. The fourth race of the Cornwell Cup contest was sailed yesterday afternoon in a steady southerly breeze, the Auckland crew, R. Bailey and L. Jordan, winning by 21s frotn Christchurch, after a very close race. The draw for the fourth race resulted:—Auckland. Oi; Christchurch, Betty; Hamilton, Vigilant; Kaiapoi, Te L'tu; L.vttelton, Rascal; Manukau, Tui; Otago,' Tornado; Paremata, Ma Peru; Plimmerton, Avon; Tauranga, Edola; Wellington, Twink; Whangarei, Watti. The race started promptly at 3' p.m. to the best start of the series, all crossing within 40s. Auckland was first away, followed by Christchurch, Otago, Lyttelton, W G "i n Ston, Paremata, Plimmerton, Kaiapoi, Tauranga, Whangarei, Hamilton and Manukau. The course was four

rounds of a windward. and leeward one, the weather mark being laid half-way across toward Ponsonby. Auckland, sailing well right from the start, was never headed, although the Christchurch crew pushed them closely at every mark. The finish was timed: Auckland 4h 38m I3s; Christchurch 4h 28m 345. Kaiapoi 4h 30m 3s, Otago 4h 31m 435, Wellington 4h 31m 455, Tauranga 4h 33m 595, Lyttelton 4h 35m 9s, Plimmerton 4h 35m 15s. Paremata 4h 37m 40s, Whangarei 41i 37m 51s, Manukau 4h 38m 555, Hamilton 4h 43m ss. To-day's Races. It is expected that three races will be held to-day, the first starting at 9 a.m. and two in the afternoon. The draw for boats for the first race is:—Auckland, Christchurch, Twink; Hamilton, Watti" Kaiapoi, Oi; Lyttelton, Betty; Manukau, Vigilant; Otago, Te Utu; Paremata, Rascal; Plimmerton, Tui; Tauranga, Tornado; Wellington, Ma Peru; Whangarei. Avon. Pour races have now been sailed, Plimmerton, Kaiapoi, Tauranga and Auckland crews winning one each.
