KNOCKED DOWN.

BLIND MAN INJURED. STRUCK BY MOTOR TRUCK. CONDITION SERIOUS. A man almost totally blind was knocked down by a heavy motor truck in Broadway, Newmarket, this morning. He suffered extensive injuries, and is in the Auckland Hospital in a seriou; condition. The victim of the accident was Mr. Roger William Corbett, aged 4S, single; a member of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind. He was crossing from the safety zone to the western side of Broadway about 9.30, when the lorry, heavily laden with stone, struck him. He was badly crushed, his injuries including concussion, a fracture of the left leg and sever; laceration to the right leg. A St. John ambulmce was summoned and the injured man was taken to the hospital. His condition this afternoon is considered serious, although he has recovered consciousness. The truck was driven by Mr. L. W. Mudgway, of 214, Great South Road, Otahuhu.
