CHRISTMAS MAIL.

ARRIVAL FROM LONDON. RANGITANE'S PASSENGERS. (By Tclograpli.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. After a passage of 33 days from London the motor liner Rangitane arrived at Wellington at sunset to-day. The Rangitane, which brought nearly 300 passengers from England, also liad on board an unusually heavy Christmas mail and a large general cargo, of which some 4000 tons will be discharged at Wellington, the remainder being for Auckland. The mail comprises • 1810 bags of letters and 400 packages of parcels. The passengers included several English visitors who are fairly frequent travellers to the Dominion. Among them are Mrs, E. J. Milburn, who has a cottage at Taupo, Mrs. C. A. Eden' Brand and her sister, Mrs. J. G. Syme, and Mr. H. White-Wickham, who comes to New Zealand annually for fishing. Wellknown New Zealanders on board included Lady Myers, Mrs. H. B. Williams, of Poverty Bay. the Misses J. M. and K. I. Barns-Graham, of Gisborne, Miss Constance Morice, of Wellington, and. Major and Mrs. T. J. C., Warren, of Hawke's Bay. Lady Ponsonby. who is holidaying, is the widow of the late Treasurer to the King. Colonel the Hon. 'George Iveppel, who has come oi.t to'fish in New Zealand, is the third son of the seventh Earl of Albemarle. He is a brother of the Hon. Sir Derek Keppel, Master of the King's Household, and a brother-in-law of Sir Archibald Edmondstone, who is at present visiting New Zealand. Other passengers were Captain W. J. Wade, Australian and New Zealand representative of the Manchester Ship Canal Company; Mr. N. H. Smith, general manager of the Shell Company of New Zealand, Ltd., who, with Mrs. Smith and their family, has been on a six months' world tour; and Mr. M. C. Featherstone, London director of Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., who has retired and has returned with Mrs. and Miss Featherstone to live in New Zealand.
