COUNTRY WEEK TOURNEY. OPENS AT SHORE BOXING DAY. j Mr. W. R. .Fee presided at last night's meeting of the Auckland Cricket Association, when arrangements for the Otago and Canterbury Plunket Shield fixtures were finalised. Mr. H. Duncan was appointed manager for both matches. It was decided', on the chairman's suggestion, to t send ' invitations to the Governor-General, Lord Galway, and the Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Savage, to attend the Plunket Shield fixtures at Eden Park, The Otago Association notified that its representative team to play Auckland in the Plunket Shield, , commencing on Christmas Eve, would arrive at 11 p.m. next Saturday. Reporting for 'the country committee, Mr. L. B. Schnauer stated that arrangements for the Country Week tournament were almost finalised. Entries had been received from North Auckland, Poverty Bay, Waipa, Riverhead, Pukekohe and Manukau. The tournament will commence at North Shore on- Boxing Day. The first two days' play would be at Devonport and the remaining games at Eden Park. On the motion of Mr. Duncan, it was decided to write a letter to the Eden Park Board of Control thanking it for the excellent pitches provided for coaching and representative- practices.
