CRIPPLED CHILDREN'S DAY. DICKENSIAN PARTY. The "Tiny Tim Outing" arranged by the Auckland Dickens' Fellowship for Saturday afternoon,, assisted by the Auckland Rotary Club, had for its rendezvous the charming grounds which surrounded the Cornwall Park kiosk. On arrival at that destination the children, numbering over thirty, were welcomed by the president, Mr. T. Clarkson, who reminded them of the great sympathy which Charles Dickens had always shown for children both in his writings and in his private life. Christinas, he said, had taken on a new meaning since Dickens had written his wonderful books "around that festive period. The children were entertained to refreshments and a programme in which humour predominated. Mr. Norman Tato amused with juggling and .other tricks, Miss Nettleton's pupils gave fancy dances, and Mrs. Kenneth Gordon told the story of Oliver Twist. Strawberries and cream and sweets were handed round as well as presents by Santa Claus, and from the laughter and cheers of the youngsters it was obvious that for the nonce the youngsters had forgotten their disabilities and were having a thoroughly happy time. About five o'clock the party dispersed after one of the children had called for three cheers for their hosts. With their presents, which included for each a copy of one of Dickens' books, the children were then driven to their homes very much the better for a glorious day in the open. •
