CYCLING.

WITH THE AMATEURS.

LYNNDALE CLUB

On Saturday the Lynndale Club held its third points meeting, when half, one and three-mile senior races and one-lap, three-lap and six-lap junior races were held. The racing conditions were anything but ideal, as a verjr strong wind blew up the finishing straight, and also up one end. The times as a result suffered. The track was also slow, due to the rains that have fallen during the past few weeks. The winner of the junior points cup was Ron Hudson, who won all the junior races. Ron displayed very good form and riding ability for a junior who is new to tho track races. Charlie Breeze, off scratch, was the runner-up in the junior cup with 12 points, consisting of a third, second and fourth. Ernie Carr rode very well and he should win one of these popular cups before long. Tho result of the senior points cup was a tie between Walter Willis and Len Farrant, each scoring 14 points. Both these boys havo been showing good form early and each has been knocking at the door for a points cup. Both should win races •in open company very soon, especially Walter Willis, who displayed very good form on Saturday. He left the scratch men, C. Goodcr and G. Hughes, in the mile and three miles, and went to got placed second and fourth respectively. The scratch men both dropped back, but with one or two more Saturdays Walter will be getting more help from these men. Colin Gooder showed how a half-mile race should be run in winning from scratch in the time of 1.10, only 1 2-5s outside the record, and a very good time for the day. It is quite on the cards that the half-mile record, and others, will be broken this year. After winning the half-mile, Colin was much distressed, due to the lack of training. , The open race of two miles was won by P P Morris, with T. Riddell second. There wero ten starters, seven from Manukau and three from Lynndale, the latter being all junior members. Next Saturday the fourth points mee> ing will be held, when half-mile, mile and a half and three-mile senior races and half, one and three-mile junior races will be held There will also be a three-mile open race. The monthly meeting will be on Sunday at the sports ground, New Lynn. The Lynndale Amateur Cycle Club will hold a points meeting at New Lynn on Saturday at 2. p.m. Handicaps declared:— Juniors.—C.
