LOG-SPLITTING ACCIDENT. (3y Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, this day. Painful injuries to his left hand were received by Mr. J. R. Scrimshaw, of Port YVaikato, "this morning when a log-spht-titisr pun exploded. 'Mr. Scrimshaw was engaged cutting firewood under pontract on the property of Mr. L. Cornille, of Port Waikato. Following' use of the gun, he had occasion to carry out minor repairs to it. The gun suddenly exploded and severely lacerated tlie back of his left hand and fingers. He came to Pukekohe, where he received medical atten tion, and was then sent to the Auckland Hospital.
