SOLICITOR ASSAULTED.

INCIDENT AT COURT HOUSE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Convicted of assaulting Mr. Archibald Burnette Sievwright, solicitor, in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon, Percival Murray White, a cook, aged 28, was convicted and sentenced by Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., to three days' imprisonment with hard labour. The assault took place in the Magistrate's Court library at about 4.30 p.m., and followed the hearing of a case in which Mr. Sievwright appeared as counsel. The arrest was made on the spot by a constable and White was brought before the Bench immediately. It was stated in evidence that he had followed the solicitor into the library room and struck several blows, one of which caused a mouth injury.
