NATIONAL DAY.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS.

Yesterday in celebration of the 17tli anniversary of the founding of the Austrian Republic, the Dean of the Consular Corps, Mr. Walter F. Boyle, Consul for the United States, and Mrs. Boyle, gave an afternoon party at their home in Owens Koad, Epsom. Mrs. Boyle wore a frock of mushroom-coloured ring velvet, and Miss Faye Boyle wore hennacoloured wool georgette. Among the guests were: Mr. 0. J. Thedens, Austrian Trade Commissioner, and Mrs. Thedens, members of the Consular Corps and their wives, Madame Marsi, the Rev. J. Schnitt, director of the Viennese Boys' Choir, Mr. Victor Gomboz, musical director, Mr. J. Kodytek, tutor, and the members of the choir. In the evening a representative gathering of citizens was entertained by the Austrian Trade Commissioner at a performance of the Viennese Boys Choir, given in His Majesty's Theatre. Among the guests were members of the Consular Corps, representatives of foreign clubs, Austrian residents, and rocal°officials. The programme appropriately included the Austrian National Anthem, national songs, and a selection of Strauss' Viennese waltzes, as well as two charming operettas. Mrs. Thedens received her guests in a black taffeta cloak over a black brocaded taffeta frock. Members of the Consular Corps present with their wives or immediate relatives were:—Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Blau and Madame Blau, Mr. and Mrs. N. Heath, Mr. and Mrs. Priestman, Mr. M. J. Sheahan, Mrs. O'Brien, Mr. D. L. Nathan, Senor Quiros Y. Quiros, M. Edouard Joubert, and Captain F. Bauer. After the concert Madame Marsi entertained guests at a supper party at the Grand Hotel. Among the guests were: Mr. and M.?. 0. J. Thedens, members of the Consular Corps and their wives, Mr. C. N. Croft, Canadian Trade Commissioner, and Mrs. Croft, Mr. Priestman, assistant-Canadian Trade Commissioner, and Mrs. Priestman, Mrs. J. Parr, and members of the Viennese Boys' Choir and party.
