OPENING DANCE.

RIVERHEAD TENNIS CLUB.

In order to wind up the festivities of the day the Rivcrhead Tennis Club held its opening dance in the Riverliead Hall. Many of the visiting players remained for the dance, there being over 300 dancers present. The committee had transformed the hall into a fairyland of green and white, the club colours, with a lattice work fern bower on tho stage from which tile Felix orchestra, from Auckland, rendered a programme of popular dance music. Mr. H. A. McMillan was in charge of the evening's programme and Mr. R. Milligan played extra waltz numbers. It was announced during the evening that the tennis racquet donated to the club had been won by Mrs. J. Johnson. It was also announced that Mr. and Mrs. W. J. MeKibbon, former residents in the district,. had donated a cup. to ;be competed for by junior members of the club. A dainty ' supper was served by the social committee and with a carnival streamer and confetti waltz a most enjoyable evening came to an end. The social copimittee responsible for the afternoon and evening's enjoyment comprised Mesdames R. Gould, R. Hall and King, Misses A. Gould and Doris Pook, and Messrs. F. Hardy, E. Ellice and I. Pook.
