CARRIER TO PAY £30 FINE. "He used to be a fruiterer aud carry his own stuff, and he's just drifted into this kind of offence. In any case he has ceased to run now," said counsel for Victor Lewis Shuter, who was charged at Papakura with carrying on an unlicensed goods service between Taumarunui and Auckland. Mr. T. C. Clissold. main highways traffic inspector, gave details of defendant carrying goods on August 12, 14 and 21, September 30. October 9. 10 and 19. The foods carricd included sugar, groceries, manure, timber, skins and hides and benzine, all of which defendant said were liis own goods. In every case, however, it had been proved otherwise. "Wo want him put off the road definitely," said the inspector.
"I have fined him dozens of times, although I have only seen him once," remarkpd Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. "He will be fined £30 and costs, £3 18/8. He will be allowed four months in which to pay, provided he pays £6 each month."
