FATAL INJURIES.
BOY HIT BY MOTOR VAN. DEATH IN HOSPITAL. The death occurred in the Auckland Hospital just before midnight on Saturday of Maxwell David Adam, aged six years, the son of Mr. D. B. Adam, of 111, Grange" Road, Mount Eden, who received serious injuries when he was knocked down by a motor van driven by Mr. R. Bishop, of Grafton, at the junction of Dominion and Grange Roads early on Saturday afternoon. The boy was walking by himself across the intersection to attend a picture theatre in Dominion Road, when he was struck by the van, which was travelling towards New North Road. He suffered a fracture of the skull and other head injuries, and a St. John ambulance took him to hospital in an unconscious condition. His death occurred about ten hours later.
An inquest was opened before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., coroner, yesterday afternoon, and was adjourned after evidence of identification had been given.
