BOARD'S AUCKLAND SITTING. The Xoiv Zealand Railway-men's Court of Appeal sat in Auckland for several days last week. The Bench comprised Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M. (chairman), Mr. J. I\. Robertson (Departmental representative), and Mr. J. Elliott (employees' representative).. The cases before the board were very complicated, involving the question of the qualification of several appellants' for the position of apprentice instructor. After a number of witnesses had been examined, the board arrived at a decision which will be advantageous to the tradesmen of the railway service, and have a definite bearing on their future promotion to the position in question.
