OVERSEAS LEAGUE.
HALLOWE'EN EVENING. An enjoyable evening was spent by members of the Overseas League at their rooms on Saturday evening, when successful Hallowe'en party was held. No pains had been spared to ensure that the decorations should be appropriate to the occasion. At tlio door the guests were presented with charms and caps and the rooms were transformed with silhouettes of black cats, witches on broomsticks, skeletons crouching over cauldrons, fat black spiders, owls and other appropriate symbols. A colour scheme of orange and black was followed out in the streamers which were hung from the centre of the ceiling to the four corners of the room. Further decorations adorned the dancing roo/n and the supper tables, reflecting great credit on Miss Joan Bayliss, who was responsible for the decoration of the rooms.
A short programme included vocal items by Mrs. Osborn, recitations by Miss Betty Birch, and a play "Weather Wise," by Noel Coward, produced by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bailey. Games and competitions were also enjoyed. A feature of the supper, which was served in an adjoining room, was the cutting of ■the bachelor cake. After supper dancing was enjoyed.
The convener for th© evening was Mrs. F. Whyte, Miss Betty Crump was responsible for the games and competitions, Miss Lola Myers for the dancing and Mrs. Angwin, Mrs. J. Melville and Miss A. Sutton for the supper.
