CHRYSANTHEMUMS.

The plants in pots intended to produce largo blooms arc making rapid progress. Those rooted early will now be established and growing freely in Oin pots, and need constant and careful attention if the best results are to be obtained. Stake tho plants as soon as necessary, and give them all tho air, sunlight and room possible, removing the lights from the frame entirely when weather conditions are favourable. This will ensure strong and sturdy growth, without which it is useless to expect good blooms possessing plenty of colour and substance. Preparations for the final potting of these plants should be taken in hand. It is always advisable where possible to mix the compost for this potting some time in advance of it being needed. Expert growers each have their special mixture for the final potting, but the basis must be good strong loam broken up roughly, together with rough leaf soil which is not too decayed, some well-rotted stable manure, rough bone meal, plenty of old mortar rubble, soot and wood ash. Get all the old pots thoroughly washed and new ones well soaked in readiness.
