SOW MAIN CROP CARROTS
This crop may be sown now on a bed that has been well prepared by deep digging, but without any fresh manure, as this leads to forky and overgrown roots. Give a good dressing of soot before drawing out the drills lin deep and Ift apart. Sow thinly to avoid later "drastic thinning, which usually results in the plants being attacked by the carrot fly. Naphthalene scattered along the rows is an excellent preventive against the pest,
