SOMETHING TO MAKE.
Try making one or both of these pretty little articles sketched here. The first is a charming little matchbox in the shape of a book. To make it you will want'an ordinary matchbox, damp it and scrape off the paper label, allow to thoroughly dry and then gild all over with a little gold paint. Glue on scraps of velvet at the back and corners and cut out a little flat flower and leaves and glue on also. To the box tray attach a ribbon with a tiny tassel
ut the end by which to pull open the box. Leave the striker intact at the front of the "book." This makes a dainty gift for mother. The tiny tree in the second sketch is made up of an empty cream carton painted green to imitate a miniature tub and filled with fibre; placed in it firmly is a dried twig with plenty of little "branches." Thread a few scarlet beads and tie them to the twig to look like berries, and you have a pretty little ornamental "plant." You can, if you prefer, gild the little tub.'
