MODEL YACHTING.
ORAKEI CLUB. The Orakei Club had a successful opening on Labour Day. A series of open events for 8-footors and 4-footers was sailed in heats and a general handicap in which both sizes took part. In addition, five races were held for the boys. They were all closely contested, the winner of the first race being Ross McKay's Comet. Peter Craven's Victory won the second. Frank Pa nil's Fame the third, Graham Cole's Ulue Streak the fourth and Don Betterton's Loyola the fifth. The ladies served afternoon tea. the visitors including representatives of the I'onsonby and Point Chevalier Clubs. MANUKAU CLUB. The Manukau Senior plnb opened its racing season to-day with two general handicaps in Mill Bay. Other fixtures are November 16 and 30, Deeember 14 and January 4. PONSONBY CLUB. The' Ponsonby Model Club will open its season on November 10, starting at 2 p.m. off the Ponsonby jetty. Events for 3-foot. 4-foot and allcomers will be decided, and are open to visitors. BIRKENHEAD CLUB. The Birkenhead Club held its first events of the season last Saturday in a fresh breeze. The races were well contested. E. Wilkin's Marian winning the first and E. 'Jull's Britannia the second race. POINT CHEVALIER CLUB. The Point Chevalier Club had a good attendance at its second annual meeting last week. Mr. Ernest Davis was re-elected patron, Mr. C - H. Paull commodore and Mr. W. H. J. Oliver honorary secretary. It was decided to open the season . on: November 17, the first race to start at I noon. Three races will be held for both j B and C cla*s wodela. '
