RATING SYSTEM CHANGES. TAXES ON IMPORTED GOODS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) '' > NAPIER, Friday.The Chambers of Commerce ' Conference passed the following resolutions:—' (1) That where a system of-rating is adopted by a poll no further poll; on a similar question be taken for five years, and that 25 percent of the ratepayers should be required to a petition,seeking such a poll; (2) that an inquiry be made as to the practicability of settling commercial disputes by voluntary arbitration; (3) that the Government be urged to reconsider the recommendations of the National Expenditure Commission to which effect.has not yet been given; (4) that the duty and surtax should be abolished on all imported goods from self-governing colonies.
