LONG SERVICE.
MR. H. B. BURNETT RETIRES. FUNCTION TO BE ARRANGED. The pending retirement of Mr. H. B. Burnett, superintendent and secretary of the Auckland Harbour Board, was referred to at a meeting of the board yesterday when it was decided to grant Mr. Burnett twelve months' leave of absence on full pay as from December 31 next, to then retire him on superannuation, also to give him a letter under seal to tlio board expressing appreciation of his 25 years' faithful service. In thanking the board for granting him leave of absence, Mr. Burnett expressed appreciation of the harmony that had always existed and the confidence that had been expressed in him. The chairman, Mr. C. G. Macindoe, said that he would reserve his remarks oa it was intended that later there would be an appropriate occasion to farewell Mr. Burnett.
