FANCY DRESS PARTY.

CHILDREN AT OTAHUHU. The St. Joseph's Parish Women's League held a children's fancy dress party on Saturday afternoon in the St. Joseph's Convent School Hall, Otaliuhu, the proceeds being in aid of the St. Joseph's Church fund. The party was an outstanding success, over 200 children being present, and many mothers and friends also attending. The grand march was a galaxy of colour, every type and nationality being depicted in the costumes worn. Mrs. J. Ayers directed tho grand march, and was assisted by Messrs. J. O'Toole, J. E. Gillies and W. Whitelaw, who ably carried out the duties of masters of ceremony. The dance music was played by Mrs. J. E. Gillies and Miss Madge Arlington.

Mcsdames A. G. Grinter, J. Kendall and the Mayoress, > Mrs. C. R. Petrie, judged the costumes, the president of the Parish Women's League, Mrs. J. J. Graham, presenting the prizes, which were won as follows: One to 4 years — Fancy: girl, Fay Nicholson, paint box; boy, Dennis Taylor, soldier. Best couples, 1 to 6 years: Alice Philp and Betty Jefferies, Darby and Joan. Best couple, 0 to 10 years: Pat and Jean Allen, Minnie and Mickey Mouse. Poster costumes: Kathleen Malioncy. Special: Alice Johnson. Shirley Temple. At the conclusion of the presentation of prizes bouquets were presented to the Mayoress, Mrs. C. R. Petrie, and Mesdames A. G. Grinter, J. Ayers, J. J. Graham. J. E. Gillies. H. T. Clements, J. Kendall and Miss Madge Arlington. Afternoon tea was served to the children in the main school rooms, and also the parents and friends in the hall.
