CHASE IN COUNTRY.
SUSPECT UNDER ARREST. ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCE. After an exciting chase for almost three hours on Saturday night, when a man was pursued l>y "motor car and across paddocks in the Papatoetoe and East Tiiinnki districts, a suspect was ai rested by Dotective T. A. Allsopp and Constable Maloney at 9 p.m. on a charge of obtaining goods and money by means of a valueless cheque. This morning Albert William Burton, aged 30, salesman, appeared in the Police Court on a charge of obtaining on July 19. H gallons of benzine, a quart of oil and £2 in money, of a total value of £2 4/8, by means of a valueless cheque. Accused, for whom Mr. Hall Skelton appeared, was, on the application of the police, remanded until October 21. Jews keep the seventh day as the Sabbath because the law given by Moses enjoined it. In their sacred writings the story of the creation declared that God after creating the world, rested on the seventh day.
