LABOUR'S FEAR.
New British Leader and Party Aim to Keep Peace. EFFICACY OF SANCTIONS. British Ofliclal Wireless. (Received 1 p.m.) RUGBY, October 13. The new leader of tlie Labour party, Major C. 11. Attlee, in his first speech since his election to that office, emphasised that the matters upon which there were differences of opinion in the Labour movement were much smaller than those they held in common. They were united in their resolve to maintain peace. They believed even yet that if the nations of the world in the League would honestly and wholeheartedly apply economic sanctions the present war should be brought to an end, but constant care should be needed lest the support of the League was used to start a new armaments race.
