GOOD PRICES MAINTAINED.

I WEEKLY SALE AT FEILDING. Due to a comparatively short entry, and good quality stock, prices were maintained at a high level at the weekly sale in Feilding yesterday. All sheep sold briskly, while in the case of cattle graziers were searching for stocks to cope with the flush of grass. Values, were as under:— Fat Sheep.—-The yarding in this section comprised practically all, hoggets and ewes out of the wool. \yith exporters on the market butchers had to compete freely for supplies, with the result that all prime mutton showed a good return to the vendor. Very fciv wethers were available. Extra prime heavy-weight shorn ewes, 18/ to 18/10; prime, 10/8 to 17/0; average lines, 35/ to 10/; light to fair, 11/ i) to 14/6: heavy prime woolly ewes, 21/4 to 22/; best heavy woolly hoggets, 26/ to 26/4; good, 25/2 to 25/9; light, 22/9 to 24/; heavy shorn hoggets, 23/3 to 24/; medium weights, 20/3 to 20/7. Store Sheep.—An improvement was shown in store hogget values, the large percentage of ewe lines in the yarding attracting the attention of buyers. Very few adult sheep were offered and the bulk of those on sale were backward lines. Extra choice ewe hoggets, 29/3 to 30/3; attractive sorts, 27/3 to 2S/0; good, 26/6 to 26/11; small, 20/10 to 22/3; black-faced hoggets, poor to small only, 17/5 to 20/1; well-grown wether hoggets, 23/ to 23/0; medium sizes, 19/0; small shorn. 15/9 to 10/; good young ewes and lambs, 29/10 to 31/; fat and forward empty ewes, 15/8; cull empty owes, 11/.

Dairy Stock.—This section was well supplied with a varied assortment of heifers and cows in mostly low to poor condition. Where quality and condition was good, however, the recent rise in prices was well maintained. Choice springing Jersey heifers, £0 2/6 to £7; good lines, £5 12'0 to £6; poor-condi-tioned to fair, £3 12/6 to £5 1/; best heifers in milk, £6 2/6; others, £3 5/ to £5; springing cows, best lines £7, fair £4 to £4 15/; backward, £2 10/ to £3 12/6; cows in milk, £4 5/ to £4 17/6.

Store Cattle. —A fair sprinkling of run cattle was contained in the stove cattle ; pens, ancl for these there was good competition having regard to quality. Mostly , yearling lines were on offer and made prices about up to last week's fair. Forward cattle commanded good prices. Good yearling P.A. steers, £4 1/ to £4 16/; medium two-year steers, £5 8/; fat and forward four-year P.A. bullocks, £7 13/0; forward P.A. cows, £4 11/; medium-con-ditioned Hereford cows, £3 4/; good yearling Hereford steers, £4 3/; two-year Hereford steers, £5 0/; best yearling P.A. heifers, £3 18/; smaller, £3 1/; backward, £2 5/; two-year P.A. heifers, £4 0/; wellgrown yearling Jersey heifers, £3; good colours, £2 8/ to £2 13/; poor, £1 5/ to £1 11/; empty heifers, £2 G/; fat and forward cows, £3 5/ to £3 17/6; good stores, £2 to £2 15/; boners, £1 5/ to £1 15/. Fat Cattle.—Although the general quality of the entry was not up to last week's fat sale, there were some good individual pens, which brought about good business. Prices about held their own with recent rates, except in the ease of ox beef, which went back a little to about 25/ per 1001b. Heavy prime P.A. bullocks, £8 7/6 to £8 15/; medium weights. £7 16/ to £8; medium weights Red Polled Angus, £8; heavy Jersey bullocks, £7 15/; prime Hereford cows. £7 8/; lighter prime, £6 10/; prime P.A. cows, £7 to £7 6/; good weights, £0 2/G to £G 8/; best P.A. heifers, £7 6/; lighter. £6 10/; prime Shorthorn heifers. £6 17/6; Jersey, £5; prime cows, dairy breeds. £4 17/6 to £5 5/; lighter, £3 17/6 to £4 10/; vcalers, to £2 3/. Pigs.—Another good sale took place for pigs at the mart, an entry of well forward sorts bringing keen competition. Best weaners, 13/ to 15/: smaller, 8/6; good slips, 10/ to £1 2/6: others, 15/; stores, £1 3/6; porkers, £2 2/.
