POST BOXES RIFLED. MAILS BELIEVED STOLEN. FOUR DISTRICTS VISITED. Ten postal pillar boxes in the Epsom, Onehunga, Grey Lynn and Ponsonby districts were broken open last night and, it is believed, mail matter stolen in each case. A similar epidemic occurred a few months ago when postal boxes and stamp-vending machines were rifled. In very case discovered last night the strong padlocks fitted to the boxes had - N been smashed with a heavy iron instrument. Boxes were rifled in The Drive, King George Avenue, Lenton Avenue and Tali Road, and at the corner of Hollywood Avenue and Pali Road, Epsom, in Princes Street and at the corner of Church Street and Alfred Road, Onehunga, in Garfield Road and West End Road, and at the corner of Jervois Road and West End Road, Grey Lynn, and in Ponsonby. The most skilled stone-throwers in the world are the natives of Terra del Fttego. Sailors have been struck by them with stones thrown by hand when they considered themselves beyond* gun shot.
