COOKE'S RETIREMENT. A correspondent, "Terraceitc," writes: "At the complimentary dinner tendered to tlio visiting Australian League tourists I noticed a statement by that grand little player, A. E. Cooke, that he had played, his last game, and had definitely retired. What a glorious opportunity for the Auckland League officials after a highly successful season and a fitting finale' to a wonderful player's popularity by staging a ( testimonial benefit match between Richmond and the rest to allow A. E.' Cooke's many admirers to pay a final tribute to him."
