ARTISTIC PUBLICITY.

LONDON AND BRIGHTON.

The extent to which the skill of the artist, the photographer and the printer is being enlisted in the service of publicity is shown in two publications from England. One is a booklet advertising the Cumberland Hotel, at the Marble Arch, London, a great establishment with 1000 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It is claimed that this hotel is as nearly as possible noiseless. The staff numbers 2000. The book, which comes from the famous Golden Cockerel i Press, contains a foreword by Mr. John- Drinkwater, a history of the region where the hotel is and a description of the house. The type is beautiful, the paper is parchment, and the illustrative sketches charming. In fact this looks like a book-colicctor’s book. “Brighton,” by K. R. G. Browne, the official handbook of the Corporation of Brighton, contains full information about this famous resort and its district. The.illustrations are in half-tone, colour and black and white, and there are satisfying maps. The cover design and sketches within are by the gifted Arthur Watts, who lost his life recently in an aeroplane disaster.
