NATIONAL THEATRE, CITY.

The lease of the National Theatre, Queen Street, held by the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation, expired last night, and will riot be renewed. The theatre, which is owned by the National Pictures, Limited, will be leased as from to-mor-row by Amalgamated Theatres, Limited, and will thus be yet another addition to their chain of 20 theatres in Auckland and suburbs and 60 in New Zealand the largest in the Dominion. Mr. C. Kempt, formerly manager ot the Plaza and Rialto Theatres, will take over the position of manager of the National. Mr. Carleton Max. manager for J. C. Williamson, left for Wellington last evening.
