GROCERY TRADE.
AWARD ANNOUNCED. IN FORCE NEXT MONDAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Arbitration Court's decision in the grocery trade has been announced, and the award will come into force next Monday for a period of 12 months. A 48-hour week is allowed for, with wages commencing at 13/0 for employees under 15 and with annual increase up to £4 5/0 in the tenth year. Wages for persons commencing later are progressively higher. Thus, a lad commencing at 19 to 20 gets 31/0 and reaches the maximum in his fifth year. Branch managers or workers in charge of a shop or branch shop receive £5 a week.
