STATEMENT DENIED.
DISMISSAL OF OFFICER.
BROADCASTING INCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Broadcasting Board characterises as incorrect a statement, made in the House of Representatives yesterday, that a technical officer had been dismissed because of his failure to interrupt the broadcast when the Mayor of Christcliurch, Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P., was speaking at a queen carnival meeting on September 24. It was stated that the decision to replace this officer was made by the board over a month before Mr. Sullivan's speech, and Mr. Sullivan, had now been shown official correspondence bearing this out.
CHALLENGE BY MEMBER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHKISTCHUECH, Thursday. Mr. H. G. Livingstone, a member of the Broadcasting Board, stated that the replacement of the operator who allowed the transmission of Mr. D. G. Sullivan's speech was decided on by the board a week before the speech was made, as the agenda and minutes would show. Mr. Livingstone has telegraphed an invitation to Mr. Sullivan to inspect the files of the board at Wellington and make a public explanation.
