HOCKEY.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. THE FIN AXi BOUND. WESLEY TO MEET GRAMMAR. To-morrow at Remuera the Auckland Hockey Association has set down for decision the final round of the Davis Cup competition. The match between Wesley and Grammar Old Boys, to be played on No. 1 ground at 3 p.m., has a most important 'bearing on the championship. A draw or a loss to Grammar definitely eliminates them from the competition while a win will put them level in the lead with St. Luke's. As there are still two matches to be played—for the Kent Cup and the Selectors' Cup—it is just possible that the association will bracket the two teams should both finish with the same number of championship points. However, Grammar's indifferent showing against a weakened Papatoetoe team when they just scraped home by the odd goal in five, and Wesley's downfall at the hands of Mount Eden, has somewhat confused the critics, and it is possible for anything to happen. The curtain-raiser on No. 1 ground at 1.50 p.m. will be the final of the junior knock-out competition and a fast game between St. Luke's and Grammar Old Boys should result. On No. 2 ground the early match is between University and Mount Eden, and the late match is between Somerville and Papatoetoe. Although neither of these matches will effect the winning of the championship, both Mount Eden and Papatoetoe are at present bracketed in the last position on the table, and. eacli of these teams will be out to try and improve their position. Ladies' matches will also be played. Teams are:— MOUNT EDEN. Senior Grade.—Tangye. Bowden, Bushell, Wells, Jenkins, Oliver, Ilayson, Clark, G. Horspool, J. Horspool, Brown. UNIVERSITY. Seniors.—Forrest-Brown, Halllwell, Wilson, Watson, N. Broun, Hogbcn, While, Bennett, A. Broun, Cooper, Eraser.
