FINAL GAME TO-MORROW. NAVY'S CHALLENGE TO SHORE FOURTH ATTEMPT TO FIND WINNER. The challenge of tlic Navy against North Shore United, which will be played at Blandford Park to-morrow, will ring down the curtain on season 1935. It will bo the fourth game between the teams in the last six weeks, and on the three previous occasions the result was a draw. The previous matches were thrilling affairs, and it is likely that this will be no exception, for both teams are desperately keen to reach finality. The Service pluyers have been taking the matter very seriously, and even North Shore has been doing a spot of quiet preparation and are fielding a very strong eleven. It was anticipated that Hooper, formerly of Philomel and the Otago rep. centre, who is doing reserve service at the depot at the present time, would appear for the Navy, but unfortunately he received a nasty knock during training and will be unable to take his place in the team. The match is timed to start at 3.15, and will be preceded by several lower grade finals. The teams for the challenge match will be:— Navy.—l .a vis (Philomel), Kendall, Howe (Leith), Orford (Dunedin), Shlrras (Lelth), Scott (Philomel), Baye (Dunedin), Bartlett, Leonard (Leith), Garwood, Haines (Dunedin). MIDuWEEK COMPETITION. PHILOMEL WIN TROPHY. The final series of the mid-week competition of the Auckland Football Association was played yesterday at island ford Park. The weather was ideul and the games were evenly contested. Philomel were extended to draw with Maritime, the score belli}; one goal each. Philomel thus become champions by one point over Marltime. Hospital beat Onehunga Woollen Mills by one goal to nil utter u very close game. By winning this match Hospital rose from liftli position to third on the cliampioship table. Features of the liiatcnes were the few goals scored and the fact that they were obtained by clever head work, the majority of the goals being headed into the net from well-placed corner kicks. The game continued to bo fast and I evenly contested during the final stages, and Hamilton headed a beautiful goal for Maritime, which equalled the scores. HOSPITAL WIN. Although not so thrilling as the tirst game, the fixture between Hospital and Unenunga Woollen Mills was very closely contested. The deteuce ot Hospital wus the main feature of the matcu, Talbot, llritain and J. Guvan being prominent in this respect. Gill, Blockley, iioatiey and l*orresier put in a lot ot good work lor the Woollen Mills. There wus no score at half-time. The only goal ot the match was registered by Gavan, who headed in a line goal, ltoss, Haysou and Hempstead played well for Hospital. Durrugh, Webster and j Lindsay combined exceiit'iitly lor tin; Woollen Mills. The final score was Hospital 1, Onehunga Woollen Mills U. Mr. Hamilton was referee. KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION.
