SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

A delightful bridge party was hc-ld in Georgo Court and Sons' reception room on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. Bradshaw and Mrs. Neal>e being joint hostesses. The prize winner was Mrs. Butler. Amongst those present were: Mesdames Cooper, Sheirlaw, Darroeh, Shore, sen., C. Shore, jun., Stevens, Jordan, Mathieson, Allen, Butler, Appleyard, Palmer, Ewen, Waite, Robins.. Mrs. Marie Fertiday, formerly of New York City and Singapore, farewelled her Auckland friends at a bright and gay tea at Milne and Choyce's. - Mrs. Ferriday sails by the Mariposa to take up her residence in Sydney. Among those present were: Mesdames M. Ferriday, J. Brooks, Chas. Martyn, W. Wylie, R. G. Hook, C. Fowler, H. Bennett, G. Fairfield, Jean Best (Malaya), Misses W. Todd, Ruth Todd, Z. Huttcr, 0. Pegler, M. Paterson.

Vases of primroses and violets made rery attractive table decorations for the card afternoon held by the committee of the Otahuhu girl guides in the Kingsford Hall, Otahuhu, on Tuesday. The committee members present were: Mesdames A. M. Pirie, J. Fletcher Mathews, H. Moore, C. E. Turner, Hipkins, C. Higginson and Stinton. There were also present Mesdames H. T. Clements, R. B. Todd, J. Kemp, .T. Cowper, Rule, F. Leslie, W. Payne, J. Higginson, M. J. Barrett, A. Pearce, S. H. Fearnley, E. Patton, A. T. McLaren, 3ST. Masefield, C. Stinton, H. Everitt and Miss J. Lippiat.

A bridge and five hundred afternoon was held at the residence of Mrs. P. Higgins, Pukeiti Road, Otahuhu, on Tuesday, the proceeds being in aid of the St. Joseph's Church fund. Thosa present included: Mesdames Pope, H. S. Turner, H. Turner, Brady, Johnson, Ryan, McLoughlin, W. G. Bright, H. Nicholson, F. Ellery, F. Holloway, McAnulty, W. Absolum, A. McCowatt, T. Eccles, Millar, R. King, J. O'Toole, J. Cahill, J. retcrson, C. Josephs, Turich, Misses L. McGee, C. Sykes, J. Allanson and Allcock. The prizes were won by Mrs. Bright (bridge) and Mrs. Petersen (five hundred).
