OVERSEAS LEAGUE.
There was a large and representative gathering of members of the Overseas
League at the club rooms yesterday when Miss A. M. MoncriefT, New Zealand Y.W.C.A. secretary in China, gave an interesting address on "Some Aspects of Modern China." The guest of honour was welcomed by Miss E. M. Emerson, vice-president of the league, who presided. Miss MoncriefT spoke briefly on the work of some of the more outstanding men and women in China in the past few years and the practical and constructive attitude they were adopting towards the tasks that confronted them in that vast country. At the conclusion of the address Miss Moncrieff was presented with a beautiful bouquet. Miss L. Dunnett then sang two songs, which were much enjoyed by those present, and the function was brought to a close by the serving of afternoon tea.
