YIELDS OF COMPANIES. Mataki (Murehison). —Last week, 40oz for 12!) hours. Sandhills (Shotover). — Boxes were washed up on September IS for a return of 20oz 12dwt. Argo (near Keefton). —First return, 40oz for 02 hours. Gold fields Dredging (Ofago).—This week, 19oz lOdwt for 180 hours' dredging. Worksop Extended (West Const). —This week, SHoz for 132 hours' work and 07U0 yards treated. King Solomon (Gore). —This week, 51oz Sdwt. Golden Dawn (Owharoa). —For the 12 working days ended September 10, 430 tons of ore were treated for a return of £2002, realisation estimated at £7 2/ per gold ounce. AUSTRALIAN PRICE OF GOLD. The price fixed by the Commonwealth Bank for gold, including jewellery, lodged at the Melbourne Mint for the week ended September 20, was at th'e rate of approximately £8 0/1 a standard ounce (22 carats), equal to a premium of 105.60. l'nyment is made according to the assay value of gold. The oriee was 1 /2J higher on the week. The price an ounce fine was £S 14/S, being a rise of 1/4 on the week.

CHARLESTON SLUICING. An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Charleston Sluicing Company, Limited, which is operating near Westport; will be held on October 11 to discuss the position of the company and its future policy. The meeting is called in accordance with a decision made at the second annual meeting in April. PLACER OPTIONS DROPPED. Placer Development, Limited, British Columbia, has announced that its subsidiary company, Clutha Development, Limited, has abandoned its New Middle Creek and New Pyrenees options at Avoca, Victoria. KUALA KAMPAR TIN. Speaking at the annual meeting of Kuala Kampar Tin Fields, Limited, held at Kuala Kampar, Federated Malay States, (lie chairman, Mr. A. A. Henggeler, said the reboring of the company's property had disclosed (lie existence of another 54.000,000 cubic yards of deeper ground, averaging 4811). There was ample shallow ground which could be worked up by the existing dredges, and the deep section of the property would he set aside for dredging by deeper digging plants at a later date. Storks of tin concentrates and buffer stock (metal) shown in the accounts at cost were a potential profit which would have added considerably to the earnings of the year had they been put in at estimated realisation prices. REPORTS OF MANAGERS. Golden Dawn (Owliaroa). —Development, Xo. 3 level: Winze 011 No. 3 reef sunk oft. The reef averages 7ft, but assays are low. Kise on Magazine reef from crosscut east advanced sft; reef, lOin : £5 IS/1 a ton. Crosscut west from face of drive north on No. 1 reef: The country here Is still of a linn nature. A flinty about Gin wide and very heavily mineralised crossed the face at a lung angle carrying soft country with if, but in the other wall hard country came in again. Rise 011 westwall bran-:i reef south of old pass, advanced 12it: 2ft wide; £4 1/8 a ton. Bottom intermediate level: On No. 1 reef south of Grey's old slopes, 15ft; 3ft. wide; £1 1/10 a ton. 011 eastwall branch of No. 3 reef soutli of Dallv's old stopes, 13ft; 21t wide; £1 2/1 a ton. On westwall branch rcfcf, 12ft: 2ft Gin wide: £14 16/4 a ton. Stoping was continued in the No. 3 and bottom intermediate levels. Talisman Dubbo (ICarangahake).—Dubbo level: The assay value of the ore broken 1:1 the stopes was as follows:—From 105 ft to 140 ft north. 24ft to 40ft above level was good: average width. 14in. From 200 ft to 400 ft north, 00ft above the level was very Dawn of Hope (Thames). —The crosscut to intersect No. 1 and No. 2 winzes has been advanced 14ft. Another' 40ft of driving will take us to No. 2 winze. The country now in the face is similar to that in both winzes. Big River (Reefton). —North winze, sunk 3ft, total 24ft Gin : centre winze, sunk 3ft Gin, total 45ft Gin ; south winze, sunk sft. total 42ft. The reef in all winzes is looking well, particularly in the south winze. In the north rise the stone lias narrowed to 2ft Gin in width.
