TRACK GALLOPS.

WORK AT ELLERSLIE. AIR LASSIE' BREAKS PASTERN. Weather conditions were ideal for training at Ellerslie this morning, and the going was good, though a trifle dead. The course proper, with the poles 65ft out from the rails, was available for fast work, and No. 3 grass track was also open, though not in much demand. Several horses were schooled over hurdles in the centre, and the steeplechase course was also in use. The best efforts of the morning were those of Kelly, Valspear, Imam in t and Kiltowyn. The Course Proper. Racing Lady was first out, and traversed half a mile in, 54 2-ss. She. had a lot of pace on when she jumped off, but the effort was a good one. Caliente and Sir Abb were not bustled to complete a round in 2.17 3-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.40 2-5. Red Flame led them home over the last half-mile in 575. Caliente impressed most. Fleetwind was going nicely beside Te Broney at the conclusion of half a mile which occupied 54 4-ss. Fleetwind looks none the worse for her racing at Avondale. Pasha was allotted useful work, averaging about 15s to the furlong. Tybalt had Zane Grey as a companion over a mile and a half, but they had not a great deal of pace on, and took 2.20 2-5 to complete the last round. Tybalt worked well, and was anxious to increase the speed. Imamint ran home from the half-mile post in 53 4-5«. She finished on very solidly. Kelly got to the end of a round in 2.9 3-5. He ran the last seven furlongs in 1.36 1-5, and the final halfmile in 56 2-ss. He was kept up to his work at the finish. Gay Broney assisted him over the last seven, and Hope Lass joined in over " the last six, which she covered in 1.24 4-5. Air Lassie, who joined in round the back, was pulled up after turning into the straight, being in a bad way. A veterinary examination showed that she had broken a bone in her pastern, and an endeavour will be made to save her for stud purposes.

Gay Marigold worked alone over seven furlongs in 1.36 1-5, her final three furlongs taking 42 4-ss. She did her work easily, and had a bit in reserve at the end. Tjdalia ran home from the poet in 1.23 2-5, and Etcetera was allotted a useful task, but was not after time. Express and Teddy Boy were on terms at the end of a sprint over.six furlongs which took 1.22 2-5. Psychologist was sent over the same ground, which he covered in 1.21, the first three furlongs taking 39 4-ss. He carried a light boy, but his effort was very satisfactory. After running his first three furlongs in 41s, Royal Appellant was not doing his best to cover six fuijongs in 1.25 2-5. Bayora and Solas got to the end of five furlongs in 1.9 2-5. Gay Defence, after running his first three furlongs in 38 4-ss, was timed to complete six furlongs in 1.21 1-5. He was running on nicely at the finish, and lias hardened up since he raced at Avondale. Tray Bit registered 1.22 2-5 for six furlongs without being seriously bustled. He was moving a trifle short before he worked.

Persian Lady reeled off five furlongs in 1.9 1-5, the first two taking 26 4-ss. The stable mates Chief Emerald, Supreme Ruler and Ruling King were bunched at the end of six furlongs in 1.26. They were ' doing their work comfortably throughout. Vale pear was responsible for the best half-mile 06 the morning, running the distance in 535. He was ridden out over the last furlong, but his gallop was a very pleasing effort. Kiltowyn went a inile and a quarter in 2.22 2-5, the final round taking 2.11. He began slowly, but improved over the last seven furlongs to record 1.35 3-5, the final half-mile taking 54 3-ss. He was doing his work well at the post. Baroscope ran home from the mile post in 1.47 2-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.33 4-5. Lady Diana assisted him over the last six, and he beat her home in 1.21. No. 3 Grass. King Mestor and Vera Acre, after running their first three furlongs in 41 2-3e', completed six furlongs in 1.23. Green Patch was not at top over a round in 1.52 3-5, the last half-mile taking 57 l-ss. Glenhaypo and Alantus ran home from the seven-furlong post in 1.37 4-5. The Jumpers. Sir Romeo (Burgess) led Hawthorn (Turvey) over four hurdles in the centre, both horses fencing safely. Catoma (Craddock) and Lord Yal (Burgess) were associated over the same fences, negotiating them in first-rate style. Zane Grey (Stanway) and Gascelle (Craddock) jumped the steeplechase fences on the flat. They started at the sodwall and finished up at the brush fence by the mile post. They both gave a satisfactory display. Puccini (Dunn) had Capella Abbey (Stanway) as a companion over a round of the steeplechase course. Both fenced with plenty of dash. Capella Abbey led over the fences on the flat, where Puccini was pulling hard, t and was inclined to jump erratically. However, he was with Capella Abbey going over the hill, and there was little between them at the end. Barrier Practice. A number -of horses, including Professional, Lady Briefly, Armacourt, Gemland, Maori Song, Parabola, Waikatoa, Primak, Mountain Bruce and a chestnut Speardance gelding were given barrier practice at the mile post. The middle grass, with the poles 6ft out, was open for fast Work at Taknnini this morning and the going was excellent. Anion opened proceedings by running half a mile in 51 3-ss, working really well throughout. Greek Gold, with Ebb and Flow to assist him over the last five furlongs, ran a mile in 1.49 1-5, the last five furlongs taking 1.5 1-5. Quality was allotted an easy five furlongs, taking 1.7. Nun Nicer and Flood Tide were associated over five furlongs in 1.4, tlieic being little between them at the finish. Engi completed his work by traversing a« mile ill 1.49 3-5. He could have anproved on the time. Hiktitaifi covered his last mile of a mile and a quarter in 1.50 3-5, while Ballymoney worked lazily over six •, ful'lbngs, taking 1.21 3-a. Thangi' Lamba -was worked . after breakfast. dashing over half a' mile in 51s. W. H. Patterson will leave for Paeroa to-morrow with Thangi Lamba, while J. W. Cathro will take Street Dancer and Tin Lap by float on the morning of the races. ■
