MOTOR CYCLE NOTES.

JOHN BULL TRIAL QUARTER-MIEE RACES. OFFICIAL RECOGNITION. Members of Auckland Motor Cycle Club are busy preparing their machines for the John Bull Trial, of 24 hours, whieh is recognised as the classic motor cycle trial in Now Zealand, the course of 500 miles being a stringent test of riders' skill and endurance. The club is discussing the possibility of starting quarter-mile grass track racing, which has not been seen yet in Auckland. This sport is very spectacular, the course having many sharp turns, and the winner is usually the most skilful rider in the field, not the one with the fastest machine. Rules for this sport were drawn up and adopted at the last conference of the Auto-Cycle Union, which has also decided to recognise oflieial championships. A meeting of the Auckland Motor I Cycle Club will be held in the club rooms to-night. Returning by the motor ship Rangitiki from London, .A. Bradley, of Nelson, who went to the Isle of Man to represent New Zealand in the International Tourist Trophy Races, is due at Auckland on October 23, and will be welcomed at the annual smoke concert of the Auckland Motor Cycle Club the same night. Severe head injuries received when he crashed during practice prevented him from competing, and kept him in hospital in the Isle of Man for some time. He has since been undergoing special treatment in London, and is believed to have fully recovered his health.
