BUSINESS KEEPS UP. INSURANCES EASIER. There is a better tone on the Stock Exchange this week, and a fair number of sales are going through. At this morning's call tliere was a good list, and fresh bidding evidenced a satisfactory inquiry. The insurance section provided a weak feature, and a seller of New Zealand had to accept a further drop of 6d to secure a parccl at £3 2/0. More were available at that figure, but buyers dropped back to £3 2/6. South British were also a shade easier, with quotations from £4 11/ to £4 12/. There was a good inquiry for Government stocks. The '43-'4o's had a sale unchanged at £100 10/, and '38-41's, at £103 7/6, showed a substantial rise over the last sale at £101 10/. Australian miscellaneous issues attracted little attention, but Dunlops retained the over-night firmness, with quotations from 10/8 to 16/. 1 Easier At Noon. At the noon call E., S. and A. had a sale at £5 7/, a drop of 3/ since the last transaction in August. Tne market tone in this class seemed easier with the fresh biddings, some of the sellers' limits being reduced. In the insurance class, sellers of New Zealands raised their limits 3d, to £3 3/, but buyers failed to respond, tho highest bidder stopping at £3 2/, as against £3 2/6 at the first call. Among Australian issues Broken Hills came to a lower level between £2 14/ and £2 14/4. _____ SALES COMPLETE®.
