RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB,
Another practice pairs match was fired by the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club at Penrose on Saturday afternoon, A and B grade members being drawn together and their combined scores plus handicaps counting for the spoons. Conditions were good and some fine scores were registered. Siminonds and Howie won with 190 from Bowes and Nealis 187. Parkinson and Griffiths 185 were third. Scores off the rifle were :—
A Grade.—H. Simmonds, 48 at 500 yards. 46 at 600 yards, total 94; F. Bowfw, 48, 46 —94 ; S. C. Parkinson, 49, 44—93; T. Ij. Biomfield, 48, 43—91 ; I. J. Spry, 44, 46—90; E. Boulton, 42, 45—87; A. W. Harris, 46, 41—87; A. J. Pleterson, 46, 41—87; A. G. Devore, 44, 42—86; H. J. Verrall, 40, 40—80; C. J. M. Clark, 41, 42—83.
B Grade.—J. M. Jessop, 49, 40—89 ; J. Simpson, 44, 44—88 ; M. Milllgan, 46, 42 —88; H. G. Collingwood, 44. 41—85; f. Nealis, 45, 40—85; J. E. Kelly, 45, 40 —85; S. Griffiths, 43, 40—83; R. \V. Howie, 38, 41—79; Dromgool, 38, 38—76; P. Clark, 37, 38—75; .7. E. Giffney, 37, 33—70 ; I, G. Campbell, 32, 34—00. The club championship will commence with a competition at 500 and 600 yards on Saturday.
AUCKLAND GUN CLUB,
A novice clay bird shoot was held at I the club grounds at Pakuranga on Saturday. Results were as follows :— Five-bird Eye-opener.—tNeholT, Schofleld, Byrne and A. U. Wells shot the possible and divided the sweepstakes. Seven-bird Novice Spoon Match.—Good nominations were roceived and excellent shooting by the novices was witnessed. A. U. Wells, Kew and Cox shot six birds and divided the. sweepstakes. In the shoot-off for the spoon, Wells was the winner. Ten-bird Novice Trophy Match, for trophy presented by Mr. C. E. Hodge.— Good shooting resulted in Monteith winning the trophy outright, shooting the possible. Schofleld, who only shot for the swee.pstakes, divided with Monteith. The trophies were presented to the winners by the president of the club, Mr. C. H. Drysdale. Five-pair Birds Double Rise.—This match was won outright by C. E. Hodge I with nine birds, while the runners-up with eight birds were Schofleld and Lehoff. 1
