Mr. R. A. Singer left for Wellington j by train yesterday. Siito-Inspector D. Scott left for Wei- j lington by the Limited last night. Mr. C. K. Grierson returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. W. H. Gumwer is leaving for the South by the Limited to-morrow niglit. Mr. M. J. Savage, Leader of the Opposition, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning. Sir Stephen Allen, chairman of the Transport Co-ordination Board, returned to Auckland by tho Limited this morning. Mr. H. Eitson, chairman of tho Christchurch Stock Exchange, is on a business ; visit to the North Island. Christchurch Gas Company, returned to New Zealand by the Remuera this morning after a six months' visit to England. Mr. W. Cassells-Brown, superinten* j dent of tho Challenge Phosphate Company, left for Wellington last ni<*ht to join the Makura for San Francisco. He will be abroad for about three months. Mr. D. R. Ingram, postmaster at Ohakune, has been appointed postmaster of Otorolianpa. Ho will take tho place of Mr. J. C. Qninlan, who retires cm Monday after 41 years' service in the Department. Messrs. A. J. Murdoch, P. W. Schramm, J. X. Massey. W. W. Massey. W. P. Endean, A. J. Stalhvorthy, A. Harris. A. M. Samuel and A. S. Richards, M.P.'s, and the Hon. E. P. Davis. M.L.C., were passengers from the South by the expresses this morning. Mr. A. P. King, district manager in Christchurch of the Government Life I Insurance Department, will retire _ on superannuation on Monday. He joined the staff in Wellington as a cadet in 1804. He is being replaced by Mr. J. S. Prentice, formerly manager at Hamilton. Mr. C. C. Robertson, who has been chief grader at the Moturoa grading stores, New Plymouth, for the past IS years, left by the Eangitane yesterday on his way to England. He will be away for a year, taking up a position with the Dairy Division as inspector of dairy produco in England. Dr. J. S. Elliott, president of _ the New Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society, and Dr. M. H. Watt, Director-General of Health, were amonsr the medical men who returned to Wellington by the Wanganella on Wednesday after attending the medical conferences in Melbourne and Sydney.
