The Proposed DENTAL BILL —and Its Policy (a) will raise the price of dentures and all dental fees. (b) will definitely prevent the public from knowing the value their money buys. (c) will still allow exploitation of the public's money. (d) is claimed to be in the public interest, because it is contended that dental advertisements in the past have been used as a means to attract public patronage without returning the equivalent value. We agree that some advertisements can be so used. For instance "A £4/4/- Denture reduced to £2" means nothing! For THERE IS NO RECOGNISED STANDARD of a £4/4/- Denture. Therefore a £2 Denture can be made similarly. Likewise, a dentist who advertises without mentioning the price invariably requires more for his work than one who states his price — because otherwise he would feature the fact to strengthen his advertisement. Our Policy Truthful Advertising—Preventing Possible Exploitation S We contend that advertising in dentistry is definitely in the public interest, as it keeps down to a reasonable level the price of dental work—BUT to deal fairly with the public all denture advertisements should feature definite PRICES. MATERIALS and PROCESSES. To this end we ourselves advertise not a "from" price, but The definite price off a denture together with The actual materials used and The process employed in its manufacture, and give a Written Guarantee that they are used NOTE! No Dentist will advertise materials and processes used and back them up in writing if they are not up to standard.
