"ART IN AUSTRALIA."

There is perhaps exceptionally good measure in the August number of "Art ill Australia." The Rembrandt bought for the National Art Gallery in Victoria is illustrated as a whole and in detail and described by Lionel Lindsay. The work of Will Asliton and John Eldersliaw is illustrated in colour. Will Ashton was recently commissioned to paint a picture of the Kaninibla Valley for the new inter-State ship Kaninibla, and the owners of the ship, Mclhvraith, McEacliar, Ltd., are congratulated on giving this practical encouragement to Australian art. The illustrations of sculpture, which include a fine reproduction of Epstein's "Behold the Man," are particularly interesting and there is an attractive section of Australian photography. Our copy is from the "Sydney Morning Herald" office, where this quarterly is published.
